Parallel Processing at CERN

A MEIKO CS-2 has been installed at CERN for over two years now. After an overview of the system, which is currently supported by Quadrics Supercomputers World Ltd (QSW), a subsiduary of Alenia Spazio, the various parallel applications will be described.

A brief review of CPU performance (and price) trends is followed by some thoughts on the future of computing in High Energy Physics in the LHC era.
